Default EGR Valve and Cracked Exhaust Manifold

First off I would like to say how glad I am that I found this awesome forum. I already found a possible solution to my erractic idle problem thanks to some monster posts.

I went to O'Reilly's today and ran a OBDII test on my '97 Tacoma, 2.7L 5 Speed. I have had a check engine light on that I have been neglecting. It gave me two trouble codes. P0116 for the engine coolant temperature sensor and P0402 for the EGR valve.

After extensive reading online this afternoon I decided that I was going to first try to clean the EGR valve and I was wondering about people's success rate with this. Second I was wondering if it is at all possible to do the same with the temp sensor.

I don't want to sound like an idiot but I can't find the EGR valve. I think I know which is the temp sensor but if somebody could verify it for me and tell me where to find the EGR valve I would appriciate it. I am not a rookie with a wrench so don't think you are explaining something to a wall so please help.

As for the cracked exhaust manifold. I have been noticing a sound when accelerating hard and I had the hood up and found a fairly long crack on the exhaust manifold. Could this possibly be causing the check engine light to be on as well.

Thanks for all the help.

B.J.

While I am at it, when running my heater I notice a fairly loud noise coming from the blower. Is this typical or do I have a leaf in it. It is worse the faster it is running. Has anybody ever taken theirs out and how hard is it.
