Ok, so its getting close to winter time with snow and rain here and i just wanna be prepaired for it. I have crappy dueler h/p which suck! I hate them with a passion. I wanna get new all terrain tires and i've been looking at a few and was wondering what you guys think would be good choices. I know the BFG are good and i want those but there kinda expenisve. I was wondering what you guys thought of cooper discovery or other types of A/T. I dont really like the Dueler A/T. I think they are kinda ugly. I wanna run close to 31x10.5 in the 16's. I think thats 265/70. Is there any size that they sell thats between 31's and 32's? Should i get 265/75/16 or do they even sell that? I think i saw that once. Im ganna get rims to but thats a little later.
I run the Michelin LTX A/T in 265/75R16 (which is a 32" tire and pricey...but has 61K and more than 50% tread left) that replaced the OE 265/70R16 Goodyear RTS (31" tire and not good in the snow but did last 80K with proper rotation).
I would suggest going to tirerack.com and doing a tire search for A/T tires. They have (9) 265/70R16 and (28)265/75R16 to choose from. They also have reviews, ratings and customer comments of each tire.
I understand you do not like the Dueler A/T style, but have you looked at the Dueler A/T Revo? It is a much higher rated tire (#1 at tire rack) and much better looking.
When it comes to tires, you generally get what you pay for and is definitely NOT a place to cut corners as this decision will affect you for years to come. If the best tires only cost $50-$100 more than cheap ones and you use them for 3 or 4 years, that is about $25 per year extra. That is equivalent to (5) McDonald’s value meals per Year!

I forgot to add that Bridgestone has a $75 or $100 rebate right now!
Ok, i mean no snow in santa, but i mean for going to tahoe and the other boarding/ski resorts . I knew someone would catch that lol.
Anyway im not talking about buying off brand tires. I'm poor but not a cheap person when it comes to my truck, but cooper, michelin, bfg, and wrangler are pretty well named tires. i was just seeing what you guys thought of them.
Also, i thought the first number was the one that determined the hieght. Whats the 265 stand for then?
265 is the cross section (width) in milimeters.
70 (or 75 etc.) determines the sidewall height and is a percentage of the width (265).
So to determine the diameter of a tire, you multiply the width by the sidewall percentage and double it (for top and bottom of tire) divide by 25.4 (to convert milimeters to inches) and then add in your wheel diameter.
((265 x .70) x 2)/25.4 + 16 = 30.6" or a 31" tire
or
((265 x .75) x 2)/25.4 + 16 = 31.6" or a 32" tire
yah it does. Do you think ill be fine with a 265/75/16 on my truck. I only have a 2.5" donahoe coil spacer.
Oh yah, are the Dueler A/T revos like there version of mud terrains? or are they just better A/T? I kinda like how they look and i can get them easily through costco.
Will my gas mileage be affected if i put the 265/75/16's on instead of going with 265/70/16's? Plus i think im ganna go with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's. They seem to get good reviews and tirerack gives them good ratings. Plus i might be able to get hooked up on a good price on em.
Shouldn't affect mileage much, but they are 3% taller, so you will have to adjust your mileage calculations accordingly (assuming you had 265/70R16's from the factory).
How much will i have to adjust if i got 275/65/16? The bridgestone site says they are 31.2/10.8 i think. Btw i got the dueler A/T revos. They look better then i thought. havent put them on because i havent bought the rims yet though.
