| | | Rt spring assy i have an 2003 4x4 xtracab w/ offroad pkg. i was in an accident. another car hit my rear passenger tire and i had to have the right spring assy replaced. amongst other things. now i have a clicking sound when i go over bumps (sounds like it's from that side) and my springs are mismatched. my paperwork says the replacement part is from 2/96 xtracab w/ offroad pkg. does anyone know if this is the right part? the replacment spring is a bit smaller. i'm still new to this whole truck and offroading business - i'm learning please help! THANKS. |

| | Re: Rt spring assy If what i read is correct they put a used leaf spring from a 96 on your truck? That is totally unacceptable, tacoma leafs sag bad to they gave you someone else's junk used and warn-out POS??? Yes they did change the length of the springs thru the years, so i would be suprised to know that a 1996 would fit a 2003
the clicking noise would be hard to generally guess, you can always have someone drive it slow while you sit in the bed and try do diagnose it...just be careful |

| | | Re: Rt spring assy I would not accecpt this. Another car hit you and they are putting used parts in your trunk. No F**KING WAY!!! I would rasie hell. If you truck was an 86 PU, I could see using used parts, but not for an 2003. This is a way for the insurance company to save money. Demand they replace this with new parts. I would go to your insurance company to see if they can help you. Used parts in a 03 is unaccecptable!!! |

| | Re: Rt spring assy I read somewhere on line, at a 4x4 mag site, I believe, that if you don't clean between the leaf springs correctly prior to installing, they can produce popping sounds. Has anyone had first-hand experience wether this may be true or false? |

| | Re: Rt spring assy I have'nt heard of clicking constantly with the springs but I would not doubt it. As everyone says, the OEM springs suck eggs and flatten-out only after a couple of years of almost no wheeling. I'd be more concerned about the wheel bearings and axle. If you were hit hard, or even semi-hard, you should bring up this point to the other driver's insurance or you'll be paying the bill. Bray |

| | Re: Rt spring assy wow that sucks. if it is a used part then raise hell! and if it was a leaf for a 96 that shouldn't even fit? i have no idea what they did but you need to find out asap. and there could be more damage such as teh bearings or the axle shafts or something liek that RED | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
