Default ECT

Hey all,

Just curious if anyone might know if having the ECT on causes any additional/extra wear and tear on the transmission and or engine? I have a 2003 TRD PreRunner ext cab. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

Having the ECT button engaged in power mode extends the shift points slightly to allow for towing or hauling. It will not cause any additional wear, but may lower your MPG a little.

My manual says to use it only when needed and not to drive with it on under normal conditions as mpg will suffer.

well common sense people, why use it when not needed just push the damn button. It is like people who are to lazy to get out and un lock thier hubs and want to know if it is okay to drive home at 80 on the freeway with them locked... just don't do it and you don't have to worry. RED
