Default 2005 Tacoma Paint Chipping? Please Sign Petition!

We need to try to get a more accurate count and description of trucks with paint chipping problems. There are too many mulitple posts to keep track of who has what problems.

If you or somebody you know has paint chipping problems, please check out this link.

There is no way to properly repair the paint chipping problem on these trucks without completely stripping the truck down and start from scratch. Not something we should have to deal with in a brand new truck!!

Chad, I can certainly understand your concern for the paint QA on Toyota trucks. I've been an owner since '85 and have had 8 since. I have noticed the decline in paint quality since '94. Whatever they were doing then, they need to go back and do it now. Bray

Hey I've been away for awhile, has anyone complained about '03 or '04 tacomas? I've got the sand pearl black '03 and it is chipping all over the place. I have not done any off road driving either.

If you are still within warranty, complain to the local dealership. Toyota has been painting chipping caused my the front tires throwing rocks on the bottom of the front of the bed. But they make you buy Toyota steprails for the free paint job, which evens it out. The steprails keep it from chipping in the future, but not good for offroading

how are they chipping? is the paint just coming off or is it being chipped by rocks. seems like they should use a chip guard on the lower parts of the body. my 90 has it.

Toyota repaired all the chips on my truck...literally thousands of them. In the process they found that the paint was too thin from the factory which allowed stones to chip the paint so easily.

They repainted my rockers, front of bed, flares, etc. I was very surprised at the job they did...awesome job of blending the paint...no lines or flaws.
