Default Soggy carpet

Has anyone had problems with water leaking into the interior on Taco's? Mine ('97 Taco, 3.4L, Std 5 sp trans 4x4 regular cab) is getting the passenger side carpet & pad soaked when driving in rainy conditions. I haven't done any mods that would affect the weter-proofness (is that a word?) of the cab area, so I'm pretty sure it's not something I did. I haven't had teh truck very long, so I don't know if it's a recent thing, or if it's been doing it for a long time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, if it is the windshield leaking, then it just needs to be resealed by a window shop. You may also want to make sure that the water that is leaking doesn't smell like antifreeze (which would mean that your heater core is leaking...).

Sorry didn't fix it yet been busy planning a wedding and stuff, yeah a window shop will pull the seal and re-seal it, Heatercore leaking is another possiblity, but you should be able to easily tell the diff, esp if you taste it, antifreeze is sweet tasting, but you prolly wont be sucking on the carpet, so that is out... also heatercore leak will leave the windows sticky on the inside

No, it's not the heater core, that was my first thought. It's just water.

I thought I'd post this link , since it's relative. I haven't had a chance yet to work on this problem, so I'm not supporting this link, nor am I ignoring other advice. I just think that maybe someone else can use this, even if I can't.

Good luck & have a great weekend PPL!

I actually had the same problem a while ago, I thought maybe a sprinkler on the street where I park was mis-aimed and was shooting up at the bottem of my cab. My '97 3.4L extended cab passenger side was getting SOAKED, and every time I dried it out, it just came back. I think it came in where my CB antenna cord runs through the cab, but I'm not sure. I'm thinking of ripping out all the carpet and replaying it with vynal(sp?) or something that I can just hose off after mudding.

Yeah,
I've had my rear passenger side carpet get wet several times during the rains of spring '05. After checking the underside and the rear passenger side door weatherstripping, I couldn't find the source of the wet carpet.

Called Toyota and they said that if I could show them where the leak was occurring and if that part was under warrenty they would replace it for free, otherwise it would be a $$$$ service fee. I said that the area leaking was directly under where I stood on the hood and took a leak, which didn't get me anywhere.

Bottom line - never did find the leak. Cab looks secure. Dosen't appear to come from underneath as I spent too long squirting a hose up under the belly of the truck looking for the source of the leak to no avail. Now it's summer in CA and the wet carpet problem fixed on it's own.

I had my cab torn apart yesterday, and found a trail of rust that lead to my shifter boot. It looked like the inner & outer boot had seperated a little bit, so I sealed it with hi-temp silicone. I figure this should do the trick. The rust was still on top of the paint, it was mostly coming from a bracket for the center console, so I cleaned it all with acetone to stop it.
