COLD AIR INTAKE QUESTION

I am considering buying an AEM Cold Air Intake "Brute Force" for my 98 2.7 Tacoma 4x4. I am just wondering if anyone knows anything about AEM products that could recommend it or lead me away from it. I also want to know if it is ok to install a cold air intake on a 4x4....since it is complety open and acceptable to more debris.

I'll answer your question the best I can. I think the tube of the AEM may be beneficial because of the less restricted air flow. As for the filter, I personally think it sux. I paid $235 for a FIPK Gen II kit when all that was needed was the deck-plate mod and I feel is just as good a mod on the 2.7. Measure your airbox to be sure it can handle a 4" plate. You could also modify your existing intake tube by removing your resignator (thanks RED for clarification) and just plugging the holes with whatever fits. Some say bottle caps, some say PVC plugs(which I like) and some even say golfballs! Just remember that you'll have to attach the vacuum tubes to whatever intake tube you chose.
