Default Need Help (Fabtech 3.5\" Performance Lift)

Right now I have the 3.5" Fabtech Performance Lift on my 03 Tacoma D-Cab, 4x4 with the V6 in it. When I got the lift I only raised the front 2"...that's what Toyota recommends, any more raised will cause the CV's to go. The lift kit came with the add-a-leaf. After I was done the truck still sagged a little in the back, so I installed 1.5" blocks in the back to level it out. Well, I put the lift on last year and the CV's just blew out, had them replaced and now I just had to replace the right front differential seal too. I'm getting sick with this lift, it's costing me more money to replace things than what it did with lift, tires, and etc.

What I need is some good info. on anyone out there who has had success with a lift. I don't want to go extreme with the 6" lift kits out. I would just like to get a good lift where I won't blow the CV's out or be scared to drive my truck. I know putting a suspension lift in it changes the angle of the CV boots, but is there a lift that will keep the angle stock. I'm about to lower the truck back down to stock height if I can't find something to resolve this problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I run just a hair over 3.5" of lift with my coilovers and have had zero problems. I installed manual hubs which allows me to run this height. It is about as high as you can go before you lose all downtravel. The kit may seem steep at $900 for all new parts but it would have saved you a portion of what you are now spending in repairs and worries. Off Road Solutions carries the new parts conversion while Downey Off-Road has a cheaper kit but you must reuse the current axles which are a PITA to remove. You can also try a diff spacer kit for $20 but it is agumentable if they work. I run that as well for the winter months when I leave the hubs locked. I think it eases the angles just enough to prevent buzzing at high speeds for me. Did you take measurements before you lifted it? It seems that 2" sounds unreasonable to have destroyed a joint. There are plenty of guys running 3" and ADD hubs w/o failures. It sounds like you are currently running more than 2" over your stock height or you sure have a good time wheeling. Either way leave the kit and get a manual hub conversion or remove it and still have problems unless you jump to the diff relocating lift kits. If you feel adventurous check out CVUnlimited. They claim to have hi angle cv joints.

Wisctaco04 thanks for the advice. I like your truck. I think I'm going to end up going extreme and put the 6" lift on it anyways.

I'm running the 3.5" lift, and have them set at just over 3", I put in a differential drop to lower the CV angle, and I haven't had any problems at all, except the rear add-a-leaf or shock is starting to sqweak on me :/
