Default IDEA\'s are needed

so on my 1980 i have never had a problem starting it and the battery always had some juice. will i was driving down to the store and when i hit the blinker the stero died untill the blinker went off. I thought how wierd maybe wiring or something. then when i came out to start it to leave NOTHING! no jucie. it would crank but nothing. so i get a jump start and head on home.. on the way the truck starts to sputter like it is not getting any fuel( i have an electric fuel pump) but it makes it home just in time before she dies. SO i think altinater has to be bad and not charging anything. so i replace it and it still does the same thing. So i am going to test the battery and make sure that is not it... but i don't think it is... anyone out there have some ideas to throw at me??? any help would be great RED

Make sure your connections from the alt to the bat are good. It sounds like the alt is putting out but that it is not going to any thing. You basically just ran the truck off the bat until it died instead the alt juice going to the engine/radio/blinker etc. A bad ground will not help the situation either. Let us know how it goes. Nothing like a ghost in the machine to get you familiar with it in a hurry.

Red I'm behind Wisc on this one. Toyotas' place their relays on the ground side of their wiring & if things go wrong, that's usually the problem(grounding). If you need a battery, fine, but it may provide enough juice to work everything until it drains a little, resulting in the same problem that you now have, eventually. I hope this made sense.
