Default Plugs

Just installed Iridium plugs in my 04 3.4l that I bought new in Jan. 04. The drivers side had NGK's. The passenger side had DENSO'S. Factory must have been running low on one or the other that Friday afternoon. No performance gains that I can feel but at least they're all the same brand!

Mine had Denso from the Factory. But that is wierd. Yeah I like my Denso Iridiums. I def recommend a japanese spark plug for Japanese vehicles, the one exception is Bosch Plats; they held up well in my celica.

Your is not the only one from the dealer that way. Mine were even gapped differently! Thank goodness I supercharged it and replaced them altogether other wise, well, nothing would have happened. I wouldn't worry, think how many others out there have different ones and will never know since they only take it to the dealers for service.

Yeah, mine were the same, different brand on different sides. No one has been able to 'splain why that happens. I replaced mine all with NGK's...

Here's a thread on the CT site where I & a few members talked to him about Denso plugs. Your experience is mentioned in one thread. For some reason, all mine came Denso when I replaced mine with D/Irridiums. Bray

My 02 V6 had the samething. Denso on the passenger and NGK on the driver side. Very Weird...I replaced them all with NGK. Maybe it was done on purpose???

Oh yeah, it was done on purpose! One side with coils(Denso) and one side with no coils(NGK). The new 4.0 has all coils and responds well to the D/Irridiums, but so do the 3.4's. Bray

What about bosch platinum 4's? Do they perform worse or as good as the iridiums and is it worth the few extra dollars per plug to get the iridiums. Whats the main difference between them anyway? I only knew the iridiums and platinum 4's were better then normal plugs.

I've tried the Bosch P+4's on a 2.7 with very little results. I think the money is well spent for the irridiums & I think you will tell a little difference. Not in gas mileage, but in performance. Also, why not get them from someone that has helped the Toyota family make the best performance products for our trucks. Underdog Racing is priced fine and he (Gadget) stands behind everything he sells. Bray
