What do you guys think about this? $175 for brand new downey headers shipped to my door for the 3.4l. The guy bought it for his 99 tacoma but decided against it. Will they fit my 2001 tacoma and do you think its a good deal? Downey has good performance and sound right? you just have to have it machined before you put it on. Oh and what about $50 shipped to my door for a 40series flow used for 1000 miles. That a good deal too? Kinda new to this whole exhaust deals so please forgive my many questions. Just wanted to get your guys' opinions cause i think you guys know you stuff.

Thanks,
Bruce

zru, are you really that sure? I've heard that Borla agreed to modify a Toy-based muffler into the cat-back to save Toyota $$. Rarely do even large manufactures (such as TRD, not Toyota) contract a lot of their products (like Eaton with the rear locker and ?? for the supercharger & on & on). Bruce, I've heard this also about the Downey headers. Try PM'ing Desert Runna about this, because he has some experience with these on the 4-cylinder models. But he knows his $h!+. Just keep looking back on this forum for a post from him. He's cool. Bray

the headers got sold lol, but i think im ganna get the 40 series. I've heard that flows are only for sound and not performance. Is that true? Ill probably just use it and save tell i can switch to a borla muffler.

I bet you'll like the Flowmaster. None offer big performance gains. It's all about the sound. Good luck. Bray

The best setup if you hav a 98 tacoma 3.4l v6 trd is to go with jba headers and a gibson swept side exhaust. i did this to my taco and it sounds and performs great, it also increses mpg..but on my taco i just left the gibson exhust system all the way to the muffler the rest of the pipe that goes after the muffler and over the rear axle was removed by doing that it sounds even better
