Default Squeaking noise in engine bay.. Normal??

I noticed most of my buddies trucks (street queens) are pretty quiet when they are sitting there idling.

But my truck seams to make a lot of squeaking noise from the belts and stuff. Not obnoxious or anything, but a little louder than most.

Could that be from mud in the pullies and stuff, or maybe the belts are getting old?? Or is that just a toyota thing?

I never noticed if it did it on my old truck.
I assume it is probably caused by excessive muddy water somehow! But how could I fix it?

Pulleys! Mine squeal like pigs sometimes on really cold days. If I wet it while running it goes away untill it dries out again(when it was warmer out of course). I usually try to clean them up really good 1X a year.

Yeah mine were squealing too, so i replaced the two idler pullies on the timing belt, that seemed to help. The pulleys were $112 and $85. They were full of mud, just glad the didn't lock up. Toyota replace my a/c compressor while under warranty, i heard it was full of mud ....man all this mud is expensive!

Yes it is, I already rebuilt my alternator, and my starter once. Good thing I have the expertise to do it because denso parts are not cheap. That would have cost me probably $400-500. New brushes and contacts were about $40.

Now it looks like I am going to invest in some new belts, and maybe try to clean out the pulleys.

I will never quite offroading, but I am going to stay out of the mud for a little bit! At least the real watery deep stuff. The slick thick stuff is too fun!
