| | Re: detriot locker I had a detroit in my 4runner. well, it was a lockrite, but pretty close.
It only locked in under power. So when you were coasting around a corner it would unlock and it made a ratcheting sound. Almost sounded like my rear-end was shot! But it was pretty cool for people who knew what it was! Then whenever you give it some gas it locks up and stays locked until you let off the gas and started to turn again.
Real fun offroad, but tricky to get used to on the pavement. I was burning my tires around every corner at first!
It pretty much ate tires for dinner! |

| | Re: detriot locker I absolutely love these tires!!! They ride as smooth as any tire I've ever had on my truck. NOTHING like the old BFG mudd terrains that I used to run.
They have a nice humm to them, but as smooth as can be. They also seem very stable on the road. People are very impressed with the handling of my truck. My buddies have commented that it practially handls like a sports car.....wtih 7in of lift and 33s of course!
I also have almost 20,000 miles on them, and practically no sign of wear at all. Over 80% tread left for sure! I do not baby them either. I go offroading often in rocks and gravel, and I burn out almost every time I take off.. I can't beleive they have lasted this long!! Let alone, barely even any wear on them!
They are surprisingly excellent off road too, in all conditions. Excellent in the snow and ice, not that you have to worry about that though. I just drove it 1000miles each way Up to Michigan and back last Month.... the ride couldnt' have been more pleasant! Unless I had a supercharger......Hmmmm
DEFINATELY WORTH THE MONEY> I SUPPORT THEM 100% |

| | Re: detriot locker I beleive the TRD locker started in your year, so you should be able to find one from 96(95.5)-04 and it will work. It all depends if you are going to swap the whole third member, gears and all. Or if you just want the locker.
There is a good write-up I found for a 94 that might give you an idea. But since yours is the next generation, which had the option for the locker, it will probably bolt right up. If I find any more info I will keep you updated. TRD E-Locker installation | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
