Default four low question

When i put the truck in four low in 1st gear everything seems normal, but when i shift into second or higher the transfer case whines really loud. So I just put it back into four high. So is this normal? any similar exp? The gear reduction of the low is only 2.57 so i dont think is should care too much. I like four low for rock crawling, but i usually just run in high with the diff locked (grey wire mod)

As I recall... that is normal. My 99 was a 5 speed, and I remember it would wine pretty loud as you increase gears/speed. It seams to do it in my auto also, but not as noticable because I don't have to shift it manually.

I'd check the fluid level just to be safe... but that sounds like normal operation to me.

Mine does it. It's normal. It's just the low gears.

Yup normal. Just wait till you do 35 down the road with low engaged. It's really loud!
