Default Camper Shells?

Howdy,
Interested in getting a camper shell here or fiberglass bed cover. Any suggestions. The only camper shell I like is the one that has the door that goes into the tailgate. Had a bad experience with a past fiberglass cover. What's ur opinion?

Probably not what you're looking for, but I'm sick about getting a Can-Back canvas cover. Wiscotaco on this forum has one. It's so versitle(completely covered, sides/bac rolled up, keeps things dry). The only thing it lacks is security, but I have an alarm that would sound if someone messed with it much. Look here if you're interested. They're just real cool to me with the rack and light bar. I've been out of commission for a while so sorry about the past post response but I agree with Bray. I have been saving up for a while for a can-back topper with the roof rack and/or light bar.

I put a custom built aluminum shell on my 96 Taco. The side windows lift up as well as the back and has a aluminum kayak/mtn bike rack on top. The lift up side doors make the shell WAY more user friendly Works great, not as pretty as a ARE or other fiberglass model but total cost was only $700.00. The builder is in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.

Just My opinion hope it helps

John

Everything's going great Bray. Just got a virus on my computer and had to take it to somone to get everything fixed. Rancher, I've seen a camper shell like your talking about but for the life of me I can't remember where. Take some pics and post them. That's a pretty good price for that shell. The Can-Backs like Bray and I want are around 900 bucks plus the roof rack or light bar. I'm still waitinf for one to pop up on e-bay and hopefully jump on it before Bray.

Take a look here:

Now that's a serious expedition rig. These folks built their own. If you have a machine shop in town you could have the frame built and finish it yourself. I have always wanted to do this.

If money was not an object I would get one of these:

They make it to perfectly fit the doublecab. Would beat the heck out of sleeping in the tent all the time

I just bought an A.R.E. shell and the leat expensive one they had for my 2004 reg. cab was $1400 with tax and installation. BUt it has a 12V brakelight, rails on the top for racks and the paint totally matches (they custom paint each one).
