Default Lift?

I have a 96 tacoma xtended cab that i just put a 3" spacer lift and bilstein shocks on and i was wondering if anyone could make any suggestions for how to go up 3 more inches. I don't want to spend a ton of money but i also want something that will be atleast decent. I'm trying to fit 35's so if anyone could help that would be great.

Well, your only real option is a body lift!

Even if you have the Pre-runner, you can only go up like 3.5 inches. Other wise you will have problems with your control arms, steering etc... If you have a 4X4 then you will have to worry about CVs, and in that case they only recommend 2.5 to 3 inches....

So, like I said, your only option for more lift out of your truck is a body lift.

UNLESS you start all over and go with a new drop bracket suspension set-up... LIke Fabtech, Tuff country, Procomp etc... where you can get at least 6 inches, in some cases up to 8 inches out of the suspension.

Other than that, you are very limited with the indepentent fromt suspension!

Oh, yeah you can do a solid axle swap!!!

I hope that helped

Right now the spacer lift i am running has a billet spacer in front with 2.5" ProComp AAL's with Bilstein 5125's. I just wanted clearance for atleast 33's possibly 35's i thought about starting over but those kits are really expensive and it makes almost more sense to go with a body lift i think.

I can't add anymore to Muddytacos' comments. You can get the 4-6 inch bracket-drop kits from Fabtech(& others mentioned are less lift for not much less money & the Fabtech is the best bracket-drop), and you are looking at $1700 at the best if you are lucky. But you will be able to install those 35's. Do you have plans for adding more power? Other than the TRD supercharger, along with the underdog kit, you're looking at $3000 at best or just plan on re-gearing because you will not be happy with the power loss. Bray. Another question i had was if i do go with a 3" body lift and i already have a 3" spacer lift what size tires should i run. I dont know if i should go 33's or 35's. I am having a hard time making up my mind. I think they are going to be BFGoodrich 33x12.5x15 or 35x12.5x15 if that helps.

The power loss has been a big concern of mine. I would like to run 35's but i dont want to have to buy either a supercharger or regear ( yet ). In the future i may want to regear but i would like to run stock gears. I'm currently doing the deckplate mod and ISR mod but other than that im open to suggestions. thanks

Well, to give you a little help on your tire size question!

I bought my truck with 35s on it and 7 inches of lift (4 susp. and 3 body). Those 35s rubbed badly even when I turned into McDonalds. On top of that, I never had a 3.4 so I didn't know what the power felt like!

Now I went down to 33s, and I am much happier. I noticed a little more pep and less down shifting!
And most importantly, I have no rub.... No matter what I do!!

Keep in mind, that is with 7 inches of lift. I also had pretty good backspacing on my wheels, so they didnt' stick out very far. My new wheels have a lot less, so they stick out more. But with the 33s, and a 10in wide rim.... I still dont' rub when I turn, even with the front wheel stuffed!

In my opinion, with 6 inches I wouldn't go over 33s.
If you really want 35s, I would recommend an 8in rims with more backspacing to prevent the offset from causing so much rub when you turn! THen your truck will look tall and skinny though!! I like the wide stance myself!

Alot of guys run 35s with 6inches of lift... but I GUARANTEE they'll tell you they rub ! Unless they are liars!

HOpe that helped

Thanks muddy, that definitely made my decision easier. I hate rubbing and i like the wider stance myself compared to the tall skinny look. I am probably going to go with 33's now. All i have to do is get my lift and come up with the money
