So I have been looking for a way to fit at least a 12in sub in my x-tra cab. There is pretty much nothing out there for a reasonal price, so I decided to screw the searching and just make the damn thing myself..with help from a buddy. So here it is, a 12in box made from my imagination. I actually get to do the entire install today..i will have to get some final pics when it is finally done. What is everyones situation on subs for there tacomas?????? later.
looks good! but i would not have built one that took one of my rear seats! I need that space for friends! you could of built one like the one i have(i have a 10) but you could fit a 12 in it and you would not take any of your rear seats! Go to blacktoy@ca4wd.net and look at my sub box! goes in between the rear seats and acts as a arm rest for anyone in the rear. red
Good gawd! THAT should wake up the neighbors. I have a 10" MTX in the same spot, I can't imagine the kidney massage a 12 would give
I think it looks good, especially since you thought it up yourself. That's what I like about this board. If someone is looking for something and can't find it already made, they'll think it up and make it themselves and share it with everyone else. If it works for you and you don't use that seat much then it's perfect. If you can, give us the demensions of the box so if anyone else wants to build one they can use yours. With the job I have I have to take a bunch of crap with me to work so I wouln't be able to use it, but I wish I could.
to red- yeah it kinda sucks loosing my rear seat, but the good thing is that if I ever need it, all I have to do is unplug the box and take her out!
I finished the entire setup today...it was a :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:, but everything sounds awsome...I can get some pics if you all would like to see some. I actually kept my stock deck, so i had to get special adapters...i am saving up for a dvd deck!!! I wish I could post sound bites (bytes?) so you all can hear what to expect out of a 12! later!
Im in a similar boat with my Tundra. I have a couple band pass sub boxes i want to put on the drivers side rear of the cab(60\40 split rear seats). Problem for me is I have a factory stereo with no RCA outputs. What adapters are you using to power your amp??????? Im planning on having a Kenwood CD installed with 2 or 3 RCA preouts to power my amps.
i am not sure the name of the adapter, but i got it a circuit city. it pretty much has stock wires coming out of a small box, and on the other end of the box, there are rca cable hook ups. that is what goes from my deck to the amp. I would suggest that you WAIT for that kenwood deck, because it will make your life 100 times easier. what sould of taken me 20 min. to install, took about 4 hours. with the stock deck, there are no wires that are labeled, so it is a guess and check situation. it takes FOREVER! you have really nice boxes too...get some pics up! later
to shmvey good poing all you have to do is take it out! I am happy witbh my set up also! to clear it is a adaptor that you splice into your stock speaker wires that come out of the back of yout deck! i did that with mine. ask the place you buy it from to look up the colors of the left and right front speaker wires and the power wire. They gave me the colors and it took me 20 min! Then you run your amp into its outputs and i stored my amp under the rear passanger seat storage area. Went and tore open one of my sisters teddy bears and used the stuffing for the left over space and it fits like a glove with no problems! red
Looking good. I was looking for a method of placing a sub in my xcab also. I had a dual 12" setup in my runner and onw of the subs finally died after 6 or more years. I just needed a box. What are the measurements?
