Dan, will it be to late and will it have messed anything up if I didn't disconnect my neg. wire to my battery. I did my deckplate mod. about 2 or 3 months ago. Also since then I've taken my deck plate mod out and now I have this big square hole in my box with about an 1 1/2" border all the way around. A friend suggested it to me, saying more air in has got to be better. Was he right or did I screw up? Everything seems to be alright and I do feel more power especially on the highway, it sounds really cool too! I've noticed that I am getting more mpg to the tank as well. Later!

would you do a deck plate mod if you lived at the end of a 1500 foot gravel driveway?

If you put it in why would you take it out? You mean you have a big hole there now? If you drive offroad or into water holes I would think you would want to close it up, but what do I know.......

i don't think you should have a problem driving on a gravel drive. just try not to stir up a ton of dust. the only time i close mine is when it's raining, or when i'm off roading in mud or water. if it's good and dry then theres nothing to worry about.

No you're cool, I know lots of people do that, cut a big hole. Its fine so long as you're not crossing any deep water.

You don't HAVE TO do the battery trick, but it might have taken longer for your truck's computer to adjust to the new greater amount of air coming in. By doing the battery trick, you force it to recognize the difference in air intake.

I wouldn't be worried, you didn't screw anything up.

One of my friends told me the more air going in the better my engine would perform. It made sense to me so without checking with these guys here I went ahead and did it. I have no complaints everything seems to be doing great. I've decided my truck isn't going to see dirt anytime soon. I basically want to do the same set up that Red is doing to his rig with the super charger and the kit from underdog racing. I'm anxious to here how his truck performs before I do anything. My truck will be strictly street,no dirt baby! Now I'm sure you wondering why I'm on this site, I like these guys better, they don't flame you. Well unless your, oops I almost slipped and said his name, sorry guys my mistake Dan getting back to the battery thing. Does it matter at this point in time to go ahead and disconnect the neg. fron the battery or is my computer cool with what I did? Thanks for your replies.

Yeah, you can do the battery trick at any time. You probably dont' need to now since you've been driving like that for this long though, it should have adjusted. The way I understand it, the computer is constantly re-calibrating for changes in engine and driving habits etc. Un-hooking the battery just forces it to start from factory settings and so it'll adjust quicker to your setup.
