New dude here, I have a 98 taco 4x4 trd and I'm having a vibration in the rear of the truck which I thought was a brake problem, and still could be. I've replaced the entire brake system: new drums, shoes, springs, and wheel cylindars all toyota parts. The vibration is felt in the seat as well as the entire cab not the wheel. The only thing I haven't replaced is the fliud and the proportioning valve and the e-brake is relaxed and smooth as well as the e-brake cranks bolted to the backplate.
Could tires cause a problem when braking? please let me know what you think I'm going nuts here trying to fix this
it is a vibration like constant????? id put my truck up on some stands and run the truck with the rear end off the ground and in gear and go inspect it that is what id do of course make sure the truck is secure so it dosent take a trip with out you !!!!!! more information though like is it a constant vibration all the time or during off roading or what ???? Yeah pretty positive, I just tore apart the front brakes and cleaned them up a bit but they're smooth when stopping and the steering wheel doesn't shake
I work for a dealer part time and they're stumped unless I want to pay the $90.00 an hour wage rate to have them do some serious investigation.
hell id still put her up on jacks securily and check every thing out while it is in geareven have somone with you to press the brakes while you look all over her
could it be a bad alignment????

it sounds like warped front rotors even though it feels like it's in the rear and makes the whole truck shake. i've driven and ridden in a few trucks that have warped rotors and they won't shake during heard breaking because the pads are are tightly squeezing the rotor, but under light breaking, the pads are not quite as tight and when they pass over the warp, it can sometimes match vibrational frequencies and cause the whole truck to shake.
one thing i noticed with my stock tacoma suspension was the back end didn't feel too tight because the leafs are so soft. your problem could be coming from the front brakes which are causing the rear end of the truck to pivot a slight bit around the caliper for the instant that the pad is hooking up with the rotor.
and to make sure we're clear the vibration/shaking that occurs due to warped rotors is a kind of a very quick, small side to side hop
Hi! Filling out your profile may help us with your problem. Have you changed anything recently on your ride i.e. wheels, tires, ect? Have you lifted your truck? Anything that you've done lately where as it didn't vibrate beforehand, even if it took it a while before it started. You should be able to tell if it's coming from the rear as opposed to the front because you should have steering wheel shake or wobble if the front is the problem. Think about any changes and get back to us. Bray.
