K&N Intake

Just wondering if the K&N intake system is worth the $240. Does it really do what it claims to do? Increased HP and gas mileage? I've heard some people don't like em. A waste of $$. Any suggestions before I drop the $$ would be appreciated.

$240?....I guess that would be for the full intake kit? I have no idea about a 2001 Taco, but Truck Trend just installed the full meal deal K&N intake kit on a '90 SR5 V6 pickup, and it gained only 1 HP at the rear wheels, and only .5 mpg better mileage. I have just the K&N drop in filter in my '90 22RE, and I can't really say it does much. Hopefully the system would work better on a Taco. Maybe somebody on here that has had one installed, can give ya a more accurate idea of the improvements, although theres not many people who know exactly how much power was gained. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck with whatever you choose.
