I went to the junk yard to get mine.

I think junk yard origional toyota parts are better then any rebuild.
they had 4. I have two toyota's to keep running for ever now. I bought all 4 at 60.00 each.

After not being able to work for so long and the surgery to correct the problem and the current economy she will not be getting that much pent on her. Ebay has some from 19.99 up to around 70.00 I'll probably get one for around the cheaper end. I know you get what you pay for but that is where i'm at. Thanks for the info was just curious if anyone had gotten one had any luck.

well when the wifes went out. we hit it with a hammer on top of the tank where it go's in. woke it up enough to get it home for the replacement.
don't hit it so hard that you deform the tank or anything.
rubber hammer and bam bam bam...
I don't remember if the 4 runners have an access plate under the seat or not.

you could give it a try. I can look around in the garage and see if I can find a pump... I am not sure where they are at as that was over a year ago.

you could send money when you get it. no big deal.

if you have the access plate then try one of the cheap one's out there. if not then it will be a bioutch to change. in that case get a middle of the road one or a junk yard one.. your junk yard may be cheaper then the one I went to... if they are like 20 bucks I would do the junk yard one.

so let me know, I can look for them, or find ya one.

so what is up? it was your back wasn't it?

hard to believe a big bear looking guy like you would have back problems.
pm me if you want. you sound depressed.. remember we are here to help.....

pm me your phone number if you want.
even if I find the pumps I am not sure what one was the bad one... I think my buddy installed the (bad one) and it is still working fine.. try the hammer thing. if no go, take it out and use carb cleaner on it and spin it up and clean it out really good. they are so expensive because it is pretty rare on these toyota's for them to go out.. it may just have a little chunk of crap in it.

Na man I'm chipper as can be. My pump is still working but is going south it has a hard time keeping up sometimes spits and sputters like it is loosing line pressure. I have had alot on my plate lately and money has been nowhere to be found here. I'm about to get it back togeather. If things hold out my 10yr daughter and I are planning a trip to do the appalachian trail thru GA, NC, TN in the spring when school lets out. I have been working with her prior to my sugery building her up to 10 mile hikes. Now after the surgery I intend on throwing the pack and 20lbs to start out and working her back up to 10 miles. Sorry for rambling

Might try the fuel pump test jumper and see if that helps with the sputtering:

It looses pressure at high demand It is still running just cant keep up I'll loose a couple rpm's. I finnaly got the other gremalins fixed.

P.S. any one ever seen a second generation 4Runner put on a first generation frame? The frame mounts all measure out the same.

It probably wouldnt hurt to take it out and clean the pick up screen and just check it see whats up in the tank. A buddy of mine said that somewhere on the pump they would bypass fluid and squirt it back out into the tank and not get it too the engine. He said it was like where the case and the top cap seal or something to that affect.
