Sorry, I haven't been out since I posted up months ago. We did take the Packard out on a 350 mile Fall Color Run with our club. Pictures can be found here.
man,,, if I don't get out into the woods at least once a month I go into with drawl.. if it has been two months I think about selling off my junk..
then I really have to get out and get my wheeling fix.
now I have the problem that we are both going to be dual cased, stock front, 4.7 rear. so I have to take apart the dual case set up I bought. 700.00 pretty fair deal. and remove the rear inter lock pin for the dual shifter set up.
then I have to drop the wifes cases. install the dual set up and shifters. the new mounts and skid plates. Make new front and rear drive shafts. and install it all.
then I have to take her 4.7 case apart and replace the shift rails. when I built hers I used one front shift rail for the high low and one top shift rail for 2wd or 4 wd. then I have to drop my rear case and mounts and install that one.
lol.. then there will be 4 shifters in each truck..
5 speed, high low, another high low, then a 2wd 4wd shifter.
yep,,, I still don't have a garage that I can get a truck into.. and it snowed this morning. on top of that I still need fire wood for the winter, Have 2 rooms tore apart and in need of dry wall and texture.
Oh and I just bought new 36 sx's for both trucks... ugggg $$ but the new sx's are alot bigger then the old 36's.. I don't get that,, the new 36s look like 38s... even parked next to some 38's on a jeep and they were really close.
the two months between buying Charlene's tires and my new 36's they went up almost 200.00.
the new one's are bigger, softer, and just kick assssss compared to my old ones.
that and it gave me a chance to weld the ring on the outer lip of my rims.
I tell ya,, that is a great mod. her rims are still round, that is the sides are not bent in.. my new rims, got bent up on the first run out.. I had a lot of hammer work to get them back in to shape,, then welded the ring onto mine.
If you are not doing bead locks, I highly recommend this mod. and using RV anti freeze to balance the tires.
you all have seen the air compressor drain valve for the rapid air down for the trails.. that is another aw some mod.
since I did it, it has been copied world wide. a guy on pirate posted up pictures. and it just went wild. course he claimed it, so got the credit for it.
details on that if you want them, how to do it etc.
looks like fun. some times I miss california a bit.. well I miss california alot, but not the masses of people that go with it.
where do you live again? I was up in the bay area.
wheeling dosn't have to be hard core rocks. just a drive in the country is good.
getting out there away from the 7-11's.
I saw the movies of you at surf and turf... judge for the cooking thing.
