| | Umm, all I will say is there is no such thing as a "Super Poo-Bah!" oh, and Carpel \'Tunnel is spelled with the quote and slash by default.

| | serious... don't you guys go wheeling? I am worried this is going to be taken wrong.. maybe I just enjoy it more then most... but you have to make time. course I don't have kids... and I am old.... you don't have to do hard trails... even a drive in the woods... I want to see pictures and get information on other parts of the USA....
what are your trails like? we have any where from (forget it)mud.. to the hardest rock trails... not much of the slick rock..
I find it hard to believe that I am the only one on here, who's wife wanted their own truck... and go wheeling every chance we get.....
oh ps... these Toyota's are...... very very tough... I have converted. dodge, ford, chevy.... they give me shait about my little motor. little axes, transmission. I have built an wheeled all the above..... Toyota man now. and most of them are now that they went wheeling with a Toyota... I have never owned or built a jeep... but they do awesome in some places and fail badly in others.. just like the Toyota.. depends on what you do. |

| | My goal for this year is to go out once a month. Went in April and May... then June became super super busy and found myself using teh weekend on the Targa project and other things (sliders etc). Might not make it out this month. In July it will have the be the last weekend 'cause I'll be out of the country for 2 weeks.
if I had my way, I'd be out about 2 weekdns per month. However since our son is still only 2.5, there's an ongoing debate about whether he can go with me or not. Wife has no interest, which means I'd have to leave her to look after him on her for the day. That's a hard sell 'caue, well, it's not really so fair - why do I get to go goof off and she dosn't etc etc. So I have to plan waaaay in advance and choose my battles/priorities carefully.
Tell ya what though, next time I'm out i'll be sure to take the camera, just for you. Last 2 times I got home and realized I was so busy driving and havong fun, took very few pics...

But as you can see no Super Poo-Bah...
Yes I remember 300 baud...My first was 1200 though. I remember the days of taking a actual phone and placing it onto the modem after you dialed and the modem would translate what ever came across the speaker and mic. That caused lots of errors and line noise though...But look how far we have come.
I remember back in the day when it was just a email loop type thing with no search like you said. But back then I wasn't old enough to drive and my first yota was still a twinkle in my daddy's eye. I was always doing computer repairs though so I clearly remember dial-up and all that. My first account was $10 a month through our chamber of commerce locally. The only other choice was AOL. I also remember on windows 3.11 when you had to execute Trumpet Winsock dial-up and connect then you could execute Netscape or I.E. Back then I.E. sucked though and Netscape was awesome.
..............
On the other note...Yeah I LOOOOVVVEEE Wheeling! Awhile back when I lived in VA still and didn't have kids my '88 was the most well maintained vehicle I have ever had. I was always fixing everything...Even if it was a stripped screw I got a new one from the junkyard or dealer or hardware store.
Now I don't have constant access to a lift all time of the day...I got the kids to take care of and on the days I have time usually I am mowing the lawn or fixing what I broke the last time I actually had a chance to go out.
All that said...Today I have time to mow the lawn and it's raining. Hopefully it will stop and clear up and if the grass is too wet I will do some truck repairs.

| | loll... I remember the phone cradle.... :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:.. I fixed computers for 10 years and got out of it when I saw it go from a 30x30 room with faults floors to the size of a frig.... hills brothers coffee in San fran.... now from what my buddy tells me.. the room is now offices.. every thing is linked and just PCs with 6 huge drives in PCs for the back up.. several off site.. other countries.. wild.
I really thought they would now be giving away lap tops for opening a checking account.... NOTHING in them to fix anymore.
I used to do hexadecimal math... to figure out what 1488 or 1489 chip to replace.. there were rows of them.. and each 256k memory board pulled 5 amps. some times you could fix them by flexing them and re seating all the chips.. that was the first thing that you did... each board was about the size of a sheet of paper.
the oldest I ever worked on had a 256 K hard drive and a 256k removable media... the media was 14 inches across.. you set the head clearance with a plastic feeler gauge.. no kidding...
then I became a nurse. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
