Drivetrain (trans/clutch??) whining

Ok, next step: Pull the rear drive shaft, throw it in 4wd and go for a spin! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] That will rule out the rear drive shaft, and semi rule out the rear axle, because there is no load on the R&P.

well i cant do that just yet..taking the front d/s in this week to get resized.
however! i packed the rear shaft full of grease and the sound almost disappeared completely. still there but very faint.
I know my drive line angles aren't perfect, but they aren't in any way binding..especially just driving on-road. and the u-joints are relatively new.
