how about restructuring all the advertisements? I am on cable access, but it still takes seemingly forever for all the ads to load before the page actually settles down to the point that I can actually start navigating. the vertical bar on the right is particularly irritating.

I can't imagine what it must be like for those of us still operating on "dial-up" connections!

Just too many elements to the page.

just my 2cents.

The Search engine is WAY better in VBulletin!

Not sure how ORC will handle the AD's yet, we can hope for the best though! Just keep in mind that this is how ORC gets the funds to keep this place going, so we need to have a little slack on the topic.

Ok so here are some post's of a Demo Forum I setup tonight just to sample how the admin side of the software works. Hope you like what it looks like.
NOTE: I have no control over the layout as of now...This is just a sample of what I would like it to look like and nothing more.

Lookin good! I'd like to see a general tech forum though, FAQ doesn't seem extremely interactive though it would be a good place to archive and discuss common issues. Maybe a "Tech Question" breakdown like the FAQs are now...

In regards to QUICK REPLY, you will all notice that you need to click the quick reply button on the bottom right of the thread you want to quick reply to before you can type text in the body of the reply box. This option can be shut off, however it causes issues with people that don't use linear mode for their display mode. If it were off and somebody used threaded mode it doesn't know what post to quick reply too so the thread would end up something like this

Orgininal post
|_reply1
| |_reply2
| |_reply3
|
|_Reply 4 Quick Reply with button off

So for now if you use quick reply you will have to click the button first before typing the text.

As for the child forums with the different sections (see samples on page 5) we are working on this but it will just take some time.
