Default 4.3L Chevy v6 conversion

does anything have to be modified in the engine comparment to fit the 4.3L v6? in the next 6 months or year im hoping to do an engine swap because mine sucks. ive been reading a little about the mod and the newer versions sound good like 90s motors. i think they were being built as the 262 4.3L in 85.
can you buy these motors rebuilt or would i have to go looking for one in a junk yard? transmission posibilities? i would hope for a 5 speed manual. toyota transfer case wouldnt fit on it, would it? any info on this motor swap would be sweet. i want to start making plans and think about what the project would involve.

oh ya also i would need to upgrade my axles wouldnt i? a swap to a motor twice as big as stock would sort of snowball into a huge money pit i think. id like some more torque though and actually be able to make the truck go instead of crawl down the road with my burnt out 22r.

Check out Advance Adapters and NWOR for adapters and requirements for that swap, they'll have all the info and details for you. order some free catalogs and read up on it.

I think you're axles will be fine, but thats just my opinion. The most recent 4 Wheel Off-Road mag by Petersons has a section on axles where they mention the Toyota solid axles, and how tough they are.

You might want to consider a Toyota 3.4 V6 swap too....keep it all in the same family at least.
