This is a shot through the cylinder six intake port. The valves were rusted badly and I actually seperated them from the valve seats when I turned the motor over by hand...They needs lots of cleaning and inspection. Cylinder five was a little rusty but the rest seem good.

Here is the blown headgasket after I carefully lifted it off the block as not to disturb it...I can't believe this engine ran when pulled!

Here is a shot of the head cleaned up a little and stripped so it can go to a machine shop someday when I get a pay check.

Here is the block cleaned up a little. I am a little concerned about cylinder #1. The piston seems to be rising out of the cylinder. Maybe a sixteenth of a inch...Not sure I didn't really measure it. If I look on the under side of the head it was hitting very lightly with a very small groove in the head. Then I look at the height of the rest of the cylinders and they are all normal looking. Just that #1 is a little high. Doesn't make sense to me...I have seen them sink from bent rods or worn wrist pins etc...But this one is actually raised out of the cylinder a little. Any ideas?

Here is a better shot of what I was talking about...See cylinder one stick up a little on the deck...Now loock in the back at six and it is actually lower.

this is a bad photo but here is a close-up of cylinder 1 raised out of the block a little. Doesn't make sense to me...

That's it for now. I need an engine stand to come from santa so I can finish up the block I guess. In the mean time I guess I will be cleaning lots of parts up and ordering a gasket kit soon.

I ran into a mechanic today that has a 4Runner that looks like mine a little...He needs to do lots of work on it but it's a nice trail truck. Got talking and he just happens to have 3 toyota supras as well! Two have the 7MGTE and one has the 5MGE. So now I got a place to get parts, and somebody to take pictures of the engine and use as references.
