Default 1980 pickup engine swap to a chevy 350

I have a 1980 Toyota 5-speed longbed pickup and want to give it some real power. I would really like to have a chevy 350 or comparable engine dropped in but don't have the knowledge to do it myself and so far cannot find someone to do it for me. If anyone has any help or suggestions or if you know someone in the Houston area who does these kinds of convertions it would be great if you could help me out.

honestly, it wold be way to expensive to have someone else do the work. It takes a while to work out the bugs.

I wouldn't, but if I did, I would charge someone $2k to do the conversion, with you buying all the parts.

Its really not that hard. Do you weld? Its easier and cheaper if you weld, but not completely nessessary. You can spend the $150 for bolt in motor mounts.

Doing this conversion yourself will cost about $2k for all the stuff. My suggestion to you is to get the right stuff the first time. If you are still interested, I can dig up part numbers for you, so you would have the right parts.

What tranny would you want? There are used adaprters for sale every once in a while. Mostly the TH350-Toy T-Case adapter. Thats the route I went. I bought a parts truck that had the conversion done, but the motor blew up and a tree fell on the truck. Came out alot cheaper that way.

Feel free to ask any other questins you may have. My email is bennycrawler@aol.com
