| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle YES! I am very interested. I want to swap my IFS on my '96 4Runner and the FJ-60 series axle will work perfectly. Please let me know what you find. Thanks!

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle I can get the whole thing for $180 and you pay the shipping but I am in Cheyenne Wyoming and I don't know how to ship it to you. The axle probably is over 350lbs and I just don't know how it could be shipped. It is complete though hub to hub so let me know if you have any ideas or if you are still interested.

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle I'm thinking road trip! I'm in Texas so that would be quite the drive. If you will give me a zip code, I'll check into shipping. The other things I need to know before we go too far is....1) Does it have manual hubs?......2) What is the gear ratio?.....3) Does it have any other parts with it, ie. springs, steering gear box, wheels and tires, etc.?.....and most importantly...4) Is it complete and in good condition?
Thanks!

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle The axle is still on the vehicle and up until a few weeks ago it was still driven. The price I quoted was for the complete axle hub to hub and they are manual hubs with the stock ring & pinion gear set which I believe is 4.11 I would have to try to verify that. If you wanted the springs and steering box I would have to get you a price on those. I have done a solid axle swap on my friends 89 Toyota truck and one thing you may want to think about is that an FJ60 axle has the differential on the passenger side and the springs are mounted underneath the axle and I don't believe the steering box would work without alot of modifications. The axle is in good shape and I am not trying to discourage you it just seems like a long drive and a tremendous amount of work to use that axle as your swap axle. Let me know if you are still interested and what else you want for sure and I will get prices on everything else for you.
Thanks |

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle It is a loooong way. How anxious is he to get rid of it? I wouldn't mind taking a vacation trip up there next spring/summer. You're right though, I would probably be better off trying to find one down here. It is exactly what I need. The passenger side diff will be perfect with a Marlin Crawler transfer-case. Spring under, eh? I can fix that too. I'm sure there are kits to swap it and if not, I'll make one. I will need everything from the rear of the front springs forward and I mean everything. Spring mounts in the frame, shackles, springs, steering gear box, steering linkages.....Basically everything on the front clip less bodywork, engine and trans. Heck, even the front driveshaft would be handy. Let me know what his time frame is, a zipcode and if you and your friend think it would be feasible. Thanks!

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle Have you heard of ABF freight? I've used them before to ship large, heavy parts. You would have to package the parts.....the axle and springs on a pallet and the loose stuff in boxes, usually strapped to the same pallet. If you check with them, the load would be shipped to their Fort Worth, Texas center on north Beach street. I could pick it up there.
Thanks for checking!

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle OK I checked on shipping I guestimated the weight and with springs, steering box, and complete axle from ABF Freights site would run about $150-160 to ship there. I also checked on prices $65 for the springs and shackles and $75 for the stearing box with pitman arm and like I said before $180 for the axle. SO the total is around $480. let me know because I do know he has a few other people interested mostly in the birfields in it but he really doesn't want to separate them out.
Thanks

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle Thanks for checking. I managed to find one in Nebraska for $475....complete front end, torched off and shipped to my door. I think I'll go that route. That should give me all the brackets and hangers I need. Thanks for checking!

| | | Re: 89 Landcrusier axle Hey kknigh, do you still have that 89 lc axle? I live just
over the hill in Laramie and would love to put it under the
front end of my drum-brake equipped 72 land cruiser, the extra width would be nice too. I would sure like to hear
about your favorite trails around here too. thanks Mike | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
