sister:

try ebay or autotrader.com
http://www.suv.com/
http://www.gr8ride.com/

they all have classified and search engines... a guy i know in maine got a great deal on an 80 of the vintage you are looking for on ebay

also, i was looking for fj40's and have a friend that is an auto broker... buys and sells whaolesale and attends auctions, searches the web etc and he found me a land cruiser at a good deal... only problem was it was an fj80 and not a 40... see if you can find any car brokers in your area... they can usually get you a much better deal than on a used car lot or out of the newspaper and some will also do the compression/vehicle checks for you as part of their fee
