Welcome to the Forums, to get you started off on the right foot, and in order to get your questions answered as quickly and painlessly as possible, please finish reading this post.
Please take a few moments to read the rules and regulations below and when you’re finished visit your User Control Panel and fill out your profile properly. Some basic information we may need: A first name (last too, if you want), location, vehicle year/make/model as well as the engine size (or number of cylinders if that’s all you know), and what type of transmission (auto or stick) It’s an added bonus if you put in your engine size and type of tranny. Your hobbies and bio help us to get to know you and your vehicle better…This way if you post a specific question and we need to know more info we can simply check your profile page.
Violating or Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in a warning, suspended/temporary ban, or even terminated/Permanent Ban. We have zero tolerance for rule infractions, so be forewarned.
It is up to the Admin, Super Moderators and Moderators of these forums to decide if infractions warrant a warning, a temp ban, or a full ban. If your account is restricted by ORC please don’t complain. If a member is banned or restricted in any way please do not PM the Mod’s trying to convince us to reverse the punishment, if you chose to do so you then consider yourself to be breaking the rules and suffer the wrath of punishment yourself.
Off-Road.Com is the largest Off-Road website on the internet with over 18,786 members, and is a board viewable by all ages, in other words PG rated. If you can’t comply with these simple rules, then this is not the place for you. You can always go to one of the competing boards and battle it out with the bashing members and flaming and hope the answer to your questions will be made. Better yet you could start your own forum with your own rules then maybe you will realize how much time we put into ours here…OR you could just simply respect us for who we are and have a great time!
The Admin/IT’s/Mods all work hard here to make ORC an enjoyable place for all of you who visit. Please keep in mind that when we have to take the time to manage users violating the rule it takes away from our free time because a lot of us volunteer to make this place better.
1) Religion, Politics, Adult Material: Please don't use this forum to create posts that are religious, political, or adult orientated. Many people view these forums from work and quite often workplaces are cracking down on anybody viewing inappropriate material on their servers. If you don’t think you would look at it while at work then it probably shouldn’t be posted for people of all ages to see from home either. None of us want to see a member terminated from a job just because you wanted to post something like this!
2) Flaming: Flaming individuals and turning people against another user will not be tolerated. If you have an issue with another member you can PM them and try to resolve it professionally. If that doesn’t help please PM your specific Moderator for your forum, if they can’t help try to find a Super Moderator, as a last resort PM your Administrator. We want to resolve you issues at the lowest level possible so everybody is happy.
With that said, be for-warned that if you violate these rules in any way, shape, or form be prepared to get flamed from the regular members of this group! Most of us don’t take kindly to anybody that just comes along to cause trouble.
3) Foul Language and Discrimination: Foul Language and Discrimination against race or gender will not be tolerated and is means for immediate Ban of your account. We are all human here so treat people the way you want to be treated! If a word or two slips from the tongue once in awhile don’t be surprised if the new forum software catches it and replaces your words with **** and if the software doesn’t catch it most likely a mod will and when you take away from our time we add points to your infraction list (yes there is a list kept for violations and it’s built right into the software!)
4) Spam: Do not post threads or links for people to click on and help you rack up your points when they go to the site. Not only are a lot of these sites full of spyware and adware, these types of posts do nothing but slow down the server when pages load or cause lots of garbage for the search engine to sort through to find your answers…SO DON’T DO IT! If you are a user or run a "Bot" that posts such things be prepared to have the account banned as quick as it opened up, and don’t try to open another account under a different name because we will ban the IP address too! This brings me to the next topic.
5) Duplicate accounts: Please do not open a duplicate account. If you are banned then that’s final! If your current account has problems or you had issues registering, please PM your Mod or Admin for some help and we will resolve it with you. If you can’t PM due to account issues drop us an email at
editor@Off-Road.com
6) Creating new threads: Please use the search feature first to be sure you aren’t repeating a question. A few minutes educating yourself so you can ask informed questions will get you more attention and the answers you need, so read up! If you’re too lazy to search first and post us a question about something really stupid don’t be surprised if nobody replies and it drops off the pages. Be sure to set the search date to beginning if you can’t find your answer right away (this will be slower but it will search all posts ever made). If you have trouble with a search, don't worry. They can be difficult to do if you're not used to the system. If you have trouble locating the information you want, when you do post your question please say that you've done a search, but it didn't help. Give your post a meaningful title. "HELP!" or "what is this for" is not a good way to start. Be descriptive - something like "4 Runner - Rough Idling" is good. There is a key on your keyboard, usually on the left side between the Shift and Tab keys. This is the CAPS LOCK key, turn it off. IF YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS, THIS IS CALLED "SHOUTING". Hi-Jacking threads are discouraged here, unless it's related to the topic. If you have another topic please start a new thread. Be prepared to take some heat if you fail to comply!
7) For Sale/Wanted Section: If you're going to post something for sale, please heed the following warning:
If you haven't contributed to the board before in any way then your “For Sale” posts will not generally be kindly received by the forum members. We don’t want to buy parts from somebody we don’t know. So I suggest you don’t sign up just to put your vehicle up for sale that is what EBay is for! If you do it anyways don’t be surprised if it vanishes into the lost world of binary numbers never to be found again!
8) Tread Lightly Tread Lightly - Home - Please don’t use our forums to build up or fix your rig and then trespass, litter, or otherwise pollute our environment. We all enjoy the off-road environment so lets work together to keep it safe and legal. Remember your children will some day own what you have created for them, help preserve our trails and forests!
