Re: Ranger overdrive I have a 72 with a mildly modified stock (is that an oxymoron?)6cyl engine. I put a Fairy OD (no longer available) in it which helped a lot with highway noise and RPM's. I really liked it but when I went to 35 BFG's they took the place of the OD and using the Fairey unit at 55mph and the 6 cyl didn't work. After the speed limit went to 70 mph the engine can pull the speed but if I slow down much past that I need to go out of OD. If I had to do it over again I'd go with the larger tires and put the rest of the money into an SM465 for street & trail or an SM420 for mostly trail conversion and have it all.
Just my $.02
