DON'T HATE ME BECAUSE OF MY SCREEN NAME!!

I'm thinking of buying a FJ40 [img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif[/img] I have found a 1968 FJ40 with all original equipment and no rust (gotta love that![img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif[/img]) Is there anything I should be weary of....I'm a little weary because of the age (it's almost as old as me![img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif[/img]). I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Look for rust at the spring hangers and shock mount x-member. If the previous owner hasent installed disc. brakes, it will need them. The stock front drum brakes always need adjustment. They're a pia! Just make sure to look it over real good for rust/repair. It is fairly unusual to find a 40 without rust or that hasnt been repaired. good luck.

The 3-speed tranny will leave much to be desired, and the motor is the 236.7 cu. in. F instead of the 258 2F, but that isn't that big of a deal. There aren't really many parts on FJ40's that are different year to year that aren't usually replaced somewhere down the line anyway.
