Default What\'s the best locker for ice?

Question:
As one who will be using my cruiser on ice most of the time (Alaska's Alaska), do you guys recommend an Auburn LSD, a Lock-Rite, or an ARB?

I thought that for ice you wanted an open differential, being that with an open differential it wont force your tires to slip, conversely, if for some strange reason, you get stuck and need a locker to keep that one tire from spinning alone, it could be nice to have a locker. I say that an ARB is gonna be what you'll want for that, (disclaimer: I dont know about any other lockers like which ones will "ratchet" on the street acting like an open differential)

My personal recommendation would be ARB so that you could only engage it when you are off the ice itself and into the snow where you'd need it. You might want to call ARB in Seattle directly; there are 2 different types of internal seals that you can get them with and one is better than the other for cold-weather situations such as yours. Unfortunately I don't recall which one is typically offered and which one is the special parts purchase.

Gosh, I for one LOVE this new forum!

Hope it helps,
Scott
