Don't buy from Blueprint/Marshal Engines
I bought a 383 Chevy stroker from Blueprint out of Summit Racing. It seemed like a bargain to get 405 hp and 440 ft/lbs for $4500 ready to go, dyno tested, and complete with carb, water and fuel pumps, msd dist, and 2 year warranty. Right away there were a few warning signs. It was recomended not to use vacuum advance, but instead of installing the vacuum lock out kit supplied from msd (a 20 minute job), blueprint simply cut the actuator off with pliers. That was one of the smallest isues I encountered.
The initial tune was not even close. Timing was way off, and i had to change all jets, rods, and springs in the carb to get any driveability at all. When I called Edelbrock for tuning advice they were concerned that this particular carb was even used on a performance engine.
I overcame these isues about the time the cam went flat, sending metal throughout the entire engine. I called for warranty support and was assured that 60% of labor and all parts would be paid for. In the end the bill for replacing the cam, lifters, and bearings was about $1600 (with a lot of help from Summit after I explained my problems)and i recieved a check for $660 from Blueprint after weeks of phone calls from me and my mechanic.
It still has never run right and support at this point is nearly nonexistant.
BLUEPRINT SUCKS!
