Default engine head rebuilding post

this is a picture of the engine heads before much work was done to them. i have removed all of the old springs, retainers, and basically everything off of the body of the head itself. i am currently lapping the valves as they are in good condition. there was very minoir pitting on the exhaust valves, and thats why i am lapping them.

moire pics to come as work is done

this is a pic of one of the heads before i began lapping the valves. as you can see there is plenty of bluild up on the valve seat and the exhaust valves especially were rather pitted underneath the carbon build up. this pitting and buildup most definately would have reduced compression in the cylinders.

here we are after lapping the valves. the carbon build up has been ground away as well as the pitting. now the valve seats are quite smooth and under a magnifying glass they are flawless. this shoul increase teh ability of the valve to seat itself and in doing so it should increase the compression compared to the unlapped valves

here we have a picture of both heads.
As you can see one is lapped, the other is not.
its not too hard to tell the difference.
This weekend the heads will be dipped and then painted.
pictures will be coming
