| | My 10yr long PROJECT..... Hello everyone...My name is John...and I haven't been on here for a long,long time.
I'm not even sure my screen-name is the same.
Anyway....I've had my 86 Sammy for over like 10yrs....and it pretty much been on the back-burner all these years.
I plan on working on this thing soon...before my other projects (I have sooo many)
This is what i have to work with:
86 Sammy...body yanked off the frame
Engine and tranny off a 2000 4X4 S-10 (vortec4.3/4l60/T/C)
6-lug Dana 44's (off an old Cherrokee, I think...offset rear pumpkin)
3" YJ springs.
The frame was plated for strength on the whole inside. The engine is in place. I was planning on using a 200R4 and the stock T/C...but since I have a 4x4 auto tranny, might as well use that.
I'm not using the stock S-10 pushbutton T/C, though.
What should I use for a T/C ?? I was told a Dana 300 ??
What you think ??
Now my rear axle is an offset unit.....due to the original plan of using the stock T/C.
What should I do now if using a center output T/C.
I need tpo blow off the inches of dust and get back on this thing.
Thank guys for your help
John

| | Personally, I'd just go for whatever case you can adapt to the rear of the 4L6 trans and locate the outputs to your axles . Makes things easier in the long run . Most folks here stick pretty much to Suzuki parts , the guys on Pirate take things to the next level . Otherwise, you could swap out to the Toy axles and use the centered rear output ....

| | This board has been pretty dead for the last few years . Lately since the new format it's gotten worse yet . There are a lot of V6 Zuks out there lurking though....
Been to the Zuhwarrie.com site yet?

| | My last Zuk had yota axles, a 2.8L V6 with a T5 tranny and Dana 300... it all worked good, but sine you've got Dana's with offset pumpkins, then I'm not sure a D300 would be the best option for ya?? Maybe sale the D44's and buy some Yota axles or cut the rear axle for an offset?
If I were you, I would get yota axles and a built 1.6L with set of t-case gears! |

| | Thanks for the reply. However, I have the D44's already (which are stronger), and the 2000 4.3 V-6, so I just don't want to change everything around again.
If anything, mabey just run a center rear D44.
What about a D18 TC...where are there outputs ??

| | does anyone else think that dana 44s are stronger? Just curious, not trying to flame, just never thought that. I have always heard that yota axles and dana 60 being equal in strength but toys have birfs which negate after everlongs, and they are lighter...
My friend had a 4.3 in his sammi with stock axles, didnt last long... ran the nuts though. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
