Default How much do Differential Lockers help

I have 4 wheeled for years with many different vehicles but have never done anything to the diff's
How much would it help Mudding? Hillclimbing? I dont do any rock crawling although i do get a
wheel or two off the ground occasionally. how much trouble are they to install? Can I do it myself?
If not how much would it cost to have it done and who does it? Thanks Guys

Lockers IMHO are one of the first mods you should do to a zuk. I haven't done any rockcrawling yet myself(hopefully tellico this summer though) I mostly do muddy hills, water and backwoods stuff. A rear locker helps out a bunch, when you get on a slick hill. If one wheel starts slipping, without a locker your probably gonna start slidding back down the hill, with the locker if one wheel has traction your gonna have a better chances of going forward.
I've gotten in several situations when I first got my zuk that a locker would have kept me from getting stuck, one in particular where I had to leave my zuk because no one could get it unstuck for 2 days.
As for installation, if you don't have any experience with this sort of thing I recomend takng it to an offroading shop and having them install it, also they should let you watch them install it so you become more familiar with your parts.
I don't know where you are located but if you are anywhere out west there are plenty of shops available. Maybe you will even be able to find someone near you familiar with zuks that'll do the installation for you.
Good Luck

a locker will best work "on the rocks". In case you lift a tire, the other still gets torque and still has plenty of traction on the rocks.

if you figure the same scenario on sand, snow or mud, the extra torque on the other wheel will help you RELATIVELY less, as the other wheel doesnt have good traction either.

However, you will find yourself in scenarios, where 10% more traction will help you a lot.

Point being: the less traction, the RELATIVELY less help you will get from a locker
