Default How do you build a bullet proof sami axle/ or best replacement?

I had a heck of a day on the trails today. Broke a driveshaft...replaced it. ....and the broke the long side rear axle a few hours later (first time to break an axle in 4 yrs). My rear end needs a complete overhaul....housing is colapsing at the spring pads and all bearings are worn.

Should I rebuild or replace the axle?

If I rebuild, what is the trick set-up? (I really want to go to another style wheel bearing)

What would be the most cost efficent swap (needs to have 3.73 gears to match front) that has good strength & ground clearance.

Spidertrax has just released their full-floating rear axle. Very cool, not cheap though. It's a tough piece. We watched Eddie try pretty dang hard to break his on the Helicopter Pad at Tellico. It took a beating and didn't fail. Check it out....http://www.spidertrax.com/fullfloater.htm You can't get 3.73's in it though. Just 4.63 and 5.13. You'd have to find a matching Sidekick front third member.

I can send a picture to you privately, my computer don't do uploads. I'll clean the scanner off and get a few of them scanned for you.

But until then, Drew Huber added some shots from the same run to the ZUKI South website.
