lift for 30x9.5 tyres

I want to run 30 x 9.5 tyres on my samy and was going to install Calmini S/R kit giving me a 2" lift . From reading the last post CSR got them (the tyres ) in with a shackle lift . How much longer were the shackles ie how much lift . What do you guys think of the S/R kit ? I want to get the tyres in with as little lift as posible . Adding longer shackles is ok in this country but installing a S/R kit would require recertification of the samy to drive on the road , $$$$$$$$ . Thanks for your help .

At one time I had a shackle lift and fit 30's. The shackles you want are 4 inches longer than stock, creating a 2" lift. The shackles are 6" total lenght. I run these with 3" lift springs and clear 31's, with a good amount of flex. The s/r would be better for approach and steering angles but if you have to recertify your Zuk, it may not be worth it. Plus you'd have to get new longer shackles for the rear on top of the s/r kit you refer to, because it only lifts the rear 1" and makes it look saggy. It just depends on which way costs less. Just installed 30 X 9.5's on my Zuk... Used Calmini 2" shackle & Doetsh shocks from them as well. Running about 15-18 PSI in tires. Ride is improved.. Great comprimise for the beach area I live in,,,, NO ROCKS. Lost most of top end power though. Next will purchase GRI or GRII lower ratio transfer case to restore top end.. With headers to improve engine breathing with 2" exhast.. Early 1988 Zuk.. 122k miles...

The 2" shackle reversal is the lift I have on my small Samurai. Two inches in the front- one inch in the back. With the perches and plates redrilled, to move the axle forward 3/4", the tires don't even come close to rubbing. My 30's are actually only 29" tall. A 1" lift shackle will work fine in the rear with 30's, I'm not sure about the front. I would guess that a 2" longer(1" lift) shackle would probably clear my tires in the front with a little hammering of the wheel wells. BTW, I'm using a set of stock spoke wheels that I reversed. I welded the old valve stem holes and drilled new ones on the back side, now the front side.

The lift you are looking at is not a 2" lift. The front is raised 2", the rear is raised only 1". I don't know how a company can market something as a full 2" if it only lifts 1/2 the vehicle 1".

If you really want to improve the ride quality of your vehicle you may want to spend your money on getting rid of the cruddy stock springs. For another $100 you can get a set of National 3" lift springs, easily clear 30" tires, and have a great riding set of springs. No smoke and mirrors like the shackle revrse kits.

You also avoid the many problems associated with shackle reversals like driveshaft complications, brake dive (which no retailer ever seems to mention in their sales pitch), reduced approach angle, Tires rubbing on the rear of the fender wells, lowered clearance under the frame, and a lopsided 2" front/1" rear suspension lift.

Some one mentioned the other day about reversing the wheel . I looked at it when I first got the thing and it looked like it would work but the front side is not quite flat . Have you had any problems with them reversed . My Suki has six studs per wheel and it is getting hard to get 15x7 wheels with the correct offset without going custom of some sort so may give it a go .
