Default many parts later...it still won\'t run

My Samurai died on the trail and apparently does not want to be recessitated. I have checked the timing belt...it is in tact and the cam appears to still be in time. I have swapped distributors and computers with another 88.5 samurai. I have replaced cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs. I have moved timing all over the place....the best that it wants to do is pop in the exhaust.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Sounds like your timing belt is still off.

Flipper,
Coming in late here-- it takes two things to make the engine run: spark & fuel. You are SURE you're getting enough fuel= checked filter?
If you are certain it's electrical, perhaps the coil or ground at the distrubutor?

Hey Everybody,
Flipper just contacted me & his Samurai is all better now-- turns out his timing belt tensioner had a problem. Detail, details!

Yep, it runs now. The spring from the tensioner broke and fell down between the timing belt and the crank gear....alowing the cam to jump time by a couple of teeth. To everyone that replied, thanks for the advice.

Darn, and I was going to start the bidding at $50 bucks, to take it off your hands.
