How do you know if your cam shaft goes out. I think mine might have. When you turn the truck over the starter will crack once or twice then grab. theres no compresion when you try to jump start it. any one have this happen

give us a couple more detals . is it just only turn over twice and locking up or is it just hard to turn over ?do a comprision check . pull timing cover belt and check the belt i would suspect more of a timing jump or belt braking ,
when did all this start?

Well it only started once and it hardly ran i had to put the gas pedel to the floor and it wouldn't go over 2 rpms. yea after you crack it once or twice it locks up. i was thinking it was the head gasket but theres no oil in the anti-freeze.

ok i pulled the cover off to the point where i could push on the belt and it moved in about 3/4 of an inch i'm guessing it should be tight. so should i asume this is it and start breaking down the front of the motor. what all do i need to do to realine it.

Remove the shroud, remove the fan, belts, pully, crank pully, timing cover. And yer there.

Sounds like the tensioner may have broken. There is a spring activated tension plate with a tab that prevents it from moving out of alignment. This can break and and you'll lose all tension. Or it could have come loose, broken tensioner, or spring.

Happened to me on the trail once, but I was able to fab that tab with a 70 amp arc welder, and it lasted the life of the engine.
