Default siezed e-brake... help please!

hi there.. i drove my sammi for the first time in a while today, and i couldn't understand why it was bogging down so much... until i realized that the emergency brake was siezed. when i pull on the handle it feels like it is already engaged and it won't go back to the off position. How do i fix this?... do i just start lubing it up? what kind of e-brake is it on a samurai? is it just a locking caliper?

The spot circled in the pic is probably the culprit. Mine was so siezed I asked on here if it was supposed to move. Take the drum off and you will see how it works. You are going to have to take that piece out and really muscle it ti get it loose if that is the problem. Jim

Jim is right on the money. Use PB to free it up and then use some anti sieze compound at the pivot point and work it in. With any luck, this will help prevent this from happening again.....

There is a specific compound that is called anti-seize. get some brushes to apply it with, nothing fancy just some cheap auto store brushes 10 for a dollar type.
