Default Buggy leafs

Anyone have a pic up close of their buggy leaf set up, specifically how you attached the leaf to the frame. Did you bolt straight through the frame? Ddi you fab a sleeve that fits onto the frame and bolt the leaf to the sleeve?

Cool thanks BB, I am sitting here with nothing to do nutil I get the new engine, so I figured I would tinker around with the rear springs a little. I'm gonna go ahead and make some expanders on the front to go with my SPOA and shackle reverse, and rear springs up front. That should prolly give me enough flex up front to properly kill myself next trail ride.

I also figured out why my body is warped so that the doors won't fit on anymore. I lost the two poly bushings from the rear body mounts when I did Twister trail at Barnwell, and the 4 mounts behind the front seats had about 1/5th " play in them, so the entire tub sorta bowed on me. Now I get to fiddle arouind with the jacks and try to bend that sucker back up and fix those mount points.

On your buggy set up, are you going to incorporate a removable clip to tie that spring to the frame when not on the trail? I'm working on that as well as some sort of brace to help keep the buggy leaf straight and prevent twisting sideways. Much like the c-shaped piece on the rear stock spring pack, but it will hang down ffrom the frame rail.

I just can't stop tinkering with this Zuki long enough to finish it.

Not with control arms. I'm going to do the 4 coil eventually, so I will go ahead and mount the control arms now and utilize them with this setup.

graydiger, spring/axle wrap is the least of my worries right now. if it becomes a problem for me running a/t tires, ill build a traction arm for it. no biggie.

neil, yup man, im making mine pinnable. with my agressive driving habits, married with twisty mountian roads of eastern TN, i GOTTA have em pinnable. yup, going to make guides to keep the goofys straight, not going to be much of a problem for me, im moving mine inboard under the frame, more flex. moving gas tank to drivers side some to take care of the filler neck problem. hope to have pics soon.

Moving them is more work than I want to do, especially with my wanting to do the 4 coil by summers end. You know how the upper shock mounts on the rear are on that cross member which runs across the top of the frame? What do you think about this: creating an identical cross member but having it run underneath the frame. I can then mount my shocks to it, and that is a 5" difference. I can then move them inwards so they are at an angle, say about 3-5 inches apart at the upper shock mount end. That should allow me to retain my Rancho 5000 shocks until I have the cash to upgrade to a longer adjustable type shock. Gives me flexibility as far as future suspension mods go.

I could then feasibly cut the old cross member and shock mounts off and there would be nothing in the empty space, leaving room for a larger fuel tank. If you can't visualize this, go look at yer Zuk. There's alot of empty space with that crossmember under the frame instead of over if you have a 2" or better bod lift. I have a 2 1/2" lift on mine.

I could probably fit the 15 gal fuel tank from my Bronco II in that space. And none of this would interfere with the 4 coil I'm planning. The coils would mount under the frame rails, which would be under the relocated fuel tank.
