Snowmobiling has such a miniscule effect on the environment that you may as well say it has no effect at all. One airport in one city in one day produces more pollution than all the snowmobiles in the world in 10 years. Multimillion dollar environmental extremist businesses pick on sledding because they can spread lies about it and the general public who don't know any different think that snowmobiling is the biggest contribution to global warming that there ever was. Just goes to show you how fear mongering works. It sure is strange that they don't target some of the major causes of greenhouse gas emissions instead of the snowmobiling industry. The things that will reduce the popularity of snowmobiling will be the cost of the sport and/or the closure of public lands due to the lobbying of politicians by aforementioned multimillion dollar extremist groups.
