Default $2750 for 94 polaris XLT, good deal?

I'm looking to purchase my first snowmobile. Is this a fair price? I need help. The sled is a 1994 polarisXLT special, and it has 1700 miles. I checked it out, and it started on the third pull, after sitting all summer. The very first pull did back fire. The exterior looks in fairly good shape. The main thing I want in the sled is reliability, and average power. Are there any quick tests to find out if the engine is sound. Also, the people that are selling it keep changing thier story about the history. So should I jump on the deal, bid lower,or keep looking for another sled. Thanx, to anyone with advice.

What's the story change? Is it an sks? Is it piped? Was it Piped? How many (actual)miles? Is it clean under the hood? Have the clutches been serviced? If it is in fair condition it might be worth $2500

Seems like very low miles... I bet the speedo was disconnected. If you wanna check on the engine--quick and easy, give it a compression test.

Sounds like a bit much for a six year old sled. $2,000 would be a reasonable price to pay. You will probably end up spending another $200 - $500 getting it ready for sledding this year by the time your dealer goes through it.

I have an '94 XLT SKS that I would be interested in selling if you want to look at it. I bought it brand new. Weller Repair set it up for me. It has PSI triple pipes, milled head, Cobra windshield, 1.5 track, Tri-City tunnel extension. The hood has never been off of it. And it has about 1900 actual miles. I don't have to sell it...It is a great reliable sled. Let me know.
