Default problem with traxxis rustler

My brother has a traxis rustler. Today he was driving it and the battery went dead so he put in a new battery and it went full speed forward. You cant control it with the control it just goes full throttle forward when you plug in the battery. any ideas what could be wrong?

make sure that your controller is on first before you plug the battery in. then make sure the switch is on in the truck. does it have an mechanical speed control? you might want to check to see if it is working correctly. disconnect the motor and then move the controller and see if it. one hint if you still have a mechanical speed control go out and buy yourself an electronic one, even a cheap electronic one is better then the mechanical ones.

tomklipp is right. my first suggestion would be to check the mechanical speed control if that is what you are using. If not, check the trim on your radio. If it is trimmed to full forward, you may not be able to control it. If you are using the mechanical speed control don't forget to check your servo. it could be stuck in the wide open position. If none of this helps give us a little more info on your setup and maybe we can help you trouble shoot more.
