How to make my Honda Rancher 450 faster?

I have a 2004 Honda Rancher 450 and I want to improve the top end. It can accelerate fast enough for me but it only tops out at 53 and I want it to go faster.

If it were up to me I would trade the thing for a Can-Am DS 450 or a Polaris Outlaw but my dad needs one with a rack so I have to deal with this one.

I feel your pain.

Our ATV AnswerMan is an old hand at both utility/4x4 and sport quads, so maybe he'll have a tip. I sent your question over to him. If I can remember, I'll post the answer here in this thread if he chooses your question, but just in case, be sure to check the ATV Editorial Section at the end of August (or maybe he won't get to it until end of Sept). But he does have your question.

Good luck!
