Default Looking for a bumper...

Anyone have a Smittybilt or similar style dual-tube rear bumper they want to get rid of? I'm getting tired of my "look at it wrong and it bends" stock bumper. Needs to fit an '87 4Runner, I really don't care if it's chrome or painted as long as it's not bent in half or rusted out.

Send me a PM with your asking price, photos are always a plus

just copy the look of the shaity built bumper, use real tube.. use a mount like a trailer hitch would be.. and you will be 10 times better off.

if you weld you can pick up a hitch. have some one bend the tube for you and weld it together.

I think that's what I'll do...I never had any problem with the bumper on my old truck but people want around $200 for them!!

I have a hitch and NEVER use it, so I'll probably cannibalize the mounts and if I'm feeling ambitious weld the receiver to the bumper.

Any advice on what guage tubing to use?

see what is available in the size that you want.
I would go thick as heavy bumpers have saved many of my trucks many times through the years.
keep in mind also that the stock brackets are not up to the task.
if you are going to mount a heavy bumper for protection the mounts must be up to the task. the hitch would be a good start but may be to low. since most are built to come out under the stock bumper.

also if you can find caps, or frost plugs for the ends that would give it that nice finished look.

Yeah, I find Smittybilt caps for sale from time to time...I might just get some and sand the name off them
