| | Tailgate Latch cable I need the driver side cable that goes in the tail gate of a 1st gen 4runner. Mine is seized up. If someone has one that works and is parting out their rig, let me know hurricane.ditka@hotmail.com
Btw, I soaked it in solvent and lubed it up, it still wont work. Need a new one. |

| | I will look, but I think my other one has the little white plastic piece snapped in half so it wasn't working properly...

| | I'm not sure if the cable from the other side is the same length, but if it is, that one might work, too. |

| | I went to a bike shop and got a length of bike brake cable and with the help of some bailing wire fixed mine. It's been good for 2+ years now.

| | so you didn't need the little plastic things? Did you just tie the brake cable to the latch and the handle with the bailing wire? |

| | No, you don't need the clips (as far as I can remember...) I'll get a picture tomorrow, so we can see what I did... Hehe

| | The pass side cable casing is about 24 inches (Sorry, I forgot to measure the drivers side), with an adjuster on the outer end. The "chunk" on the end of the cable is a hair over 1/4 inch, and fits snugly, but I can't remember if I had to drill out the hole in the factory receiver or not. Both ends need some bailing wire to hold them in place. And a crimper is needed to put a loop in the outer end.
I think the cable and parts were less than $10 at the bike shop.
Hope that helps.

| | Dude, this has to go in the ghetto repair section! That took some desperate thinking to come up with that!

| | Desperate? Hell yeah, I priced a new one!
Ghetto? Nah, I could have just used a straight piece of bailing wire.....
It's been going strong for almost 3 years now, and as those pics were taken today, I'd say it's in no danger of failing soon. I'll do the other side the same way when it lets loose.
We should move this to tech.... Hehehe
